MAFF Development Fund aspires to stimulate co-productions between Sweden and the Arab countries and is available for feature films; narratives and documentaries, and short films.

MAFF offers development funding to emerging and established filmmakers who have a compelling and distinctive story to tell.

Our mission is to encourage and enable filmmakers to develop their work and ambitions. We are also keen to encourage films with Arabic cultural content, reflecting the Arab world and Arab life, as part of our portfolio.

MAFF MARKET FORUM 2020 FUNDS

More than USD 140,000 total awards value in 2020

Malmo Arab Film Festival and MAFF Market Forum fund prize of 2020, with a total sum of over 140.000 USD, given to Arab projects in development and post-production. MAFF Market Forum will take place as a sidebar of the festival’s 10th edition (8-13 October 2020).

MAFF Market Forum Development Fund

MAFF Development Funding aspires to stimulate co-productions between Sweden and the Arab countries and is available for feature, documentaries, and short films.

  • Development Fund for Feature Films:
    • SEK 150,000 (equivalent to USD 17,000) presented by the Swedish Film Institute
  • Development Fund for Documentary Films:
    • SEK 75,000 (equivalent to USD 8,500) presented by the Swedish Film Institute
  • Development Fund for Short Films:
    • SEK 30,000 (equivalent to USD 3,400) presented by Film i Skåne
    • Editing service presented by FilmCentrum Syd equivalent to SEK 30,000 (equivalent to USD 3,400)
    • Audio post production presented by Transit-tv AB equivalent to SEK 40,000 (equivalent to USD 4,500)

GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS:

  • MAFF reserves the right to screen winning projects (if selected for Malmo Arab Film Festival) for its Swedish premiere in the upcoming edition after the project is completed.
  • Winning projects are to inform MAFF on a regular basis (every 3 months) of their latest funding progress, the development status of the project, market/awards and festival participation, and to send a viewing copy of the film when completed.
