Malmö Arab Film Festival opening the submission of the films for the ninth edition

Malmo Arab Film Festival MAFF is now accepting entries of films for its ninth edition, slated to take place in Malmo, Sweden, from October 4 – 8, 2019. Film submissions are invited for the Feature Competition, the Documentary Competition, the Short Film Competition.
Juries composed of prominent filmmakers and professionals from the Arab region and cinema professionals will select the winners in each category of the competitions and the winning films.
Mouhamad Keblawi, MAFF Chairman said: “We worked hard along the 8 editions on establishing a leading festival for the Arab Cinema focus outside the Arab region. Now, MAFF is the most important and the largest festival for the Arab Cinema outside the Arab region, not only in Europe but also all over the world. Hence, it’s been decided that MAFF’s ninth edition will be very remarkable edition as for its size of activities, quality of selections and the number of invited filmmakers and movie stars”.
Two juries, comprised by professional filmmakers, movie stars and critics will award the following Awards:
- Best Short Film
- Best Documentary
- Best Feature
- The City of Malmo Audience Award
- Best Director
- Best Script
- Best Actor
- Best Actress
In addition to the competition sections, retrospectives and special screenings. The program also consists of seminars, celebrations and an industry forum for collaboration between the Nordic and Arab film industries during MAFF Market Forum (MMF) that is held in parallel to the festival from October 5 – 8, 2019. Moreover, there will be smaller festivals for the Arab Cinema in many cities within the southern province (Skåne).
