Malmö Arab Film Festival Honors Comedy Star Ahmed Helmy in Its 15th Edition

The Malmö Arab Film Festival is delighted to announce that renowned Egyptian comedy star Ahmed Helmy will be honored during its 15th edition, scheduled to take place in Malmö, Sweden, from April 29 to May 5, 2025. The honorary award will be presented to Ahmed Helmy at the festival’s official opening ceremony on April 29 at Royal Cinema, the largest cinema hall in Scandinavia.
Commenting on this recognition, the President of the Malmö Arab Film Festival Mouhamad Keblawi stated: “Ahmed Helmy is one of the most distinguished stars of Arab cinema, with a rich career marked by creativity and excellence. Helmy has left a unique imprint on Arab cinema through his comedic and dramatic roles, which reflect societal issues with humor and deep human sensitivity. We are proud to honor him in Malmö as a tribute to his significant contributions to the film industry.”
For his part, Ahmed Helmy expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the Malmö Arab Film Festival for this recognition, saying: “Being honored as an artist in general, and for me personally, is a medal of love and appreciation that is beyond value. My journey in cinema was never just an ordinary professional path; it was filled with experiences, challenges, happiness, and artistic joy.”
In addition to the honor, Ahmed Helmy will host a Masterclass the following day, where he will engage with Malmö’s diverse audience and share insights into his artistic journey and cinematic career.
