Prominent Arab filmmakers and critics selected to judge the 7th annual Malmö Arab Film Festival

Malmö Arab Film Festival (MAFF) today announced the names of the jury for the 7th edition of the festival. All the jury members were chosen from a selection of professional filmmakers and critics from the Arab world.

The following awards will be presented in the 7th Malmö Arab Film Festival:

Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, Best Long Documentary, and a new award added this year: Best Short Documentary.

Festival director Mohamed Kablawi said, “the festival has selected some of the most prominent filmmakers and critics from the Arab world to be on this year’s jury.”

The international award-winning Jordanian actress Saba Mubarak, Palestinian screen writer and director Rashid Masharawi, and Tunisian producer and critic Dorra Bouchoucha will judge short and feature films. Egyptian cinema critic Tarek Elshinnawi, Kuwaiti cinema critic Abdul Sattar Naji, and Lebanese director Diala Kashmar will sit on the jury for the short and long documentary categories.

The 7th annual Malmö Arab Film Festival will take place from October 6 to October 10, 2017. The festival expects thousands of cinema-goers from Malmö and the region, as well as renowned actors, directors, producers and film professionals representing the year’s greatest films from the Arab world.
