Critics Without Borders

The project highlights the role that film criticism can play in strengthening democracy and freedom of expression. The film critic’s task is to put the films and stories in an artistic, social and political context, and has the possibility to provide critical reflections and create broad discussions about pressing topics. The project is a cultural exchange in which film critics from the Nordic countries and the Arab World meet in Malmö to engage in seminars and workshops.

Critics Without Borders seeks to highlight the role that film criticism can play in strengthening democracy and the freedom of speech. The aim of Critics Without Borders is to disconcert such views. The project aims to show, discuss, and highlight how film and film criticism can be highly important in strengthening democracy and the freedom of speech. The problem that the project seeks to address is thus how film criticism can play a role in bringing about change and raise awareness about delicate political and social issues.
