The 8th edition of MAFF Industry Days 2022 took place on May 4-8, 2022Introduction
2022 is the 8th year of the festival’s film industry initiative MAFF Industry Days (MID) – the world’s first industry platform for co-production and collaboration between the Aran world and the Nordic region.
The 8th edition was held physically after 2 years of hybrid and online editions forced by the pandemic.
MAFF Industry Days has 4 support funds, MAFF Development Fund for shorts, fictions and documentaries and the Post-Production Platform.
MAFF Development Fund
MAFF Development Fund focuses on providing support to film projects that are in the state of development. it is a pitch competition where projects are pitched in front of a jury, experts, and film professionals. Filmmakers pitch their projects for the opportunity to win development support.
Finally, 14 film projects were invited to pitch their projects to a jury in MID.
Post-Production Platform
The Post Production Platform is a fund for feature-length narrative and documentary projects in post-production by directors of Arab nationality or origin. Post Production Platform was established to support and encourage Arab filmmakers to professionalize the finalization of their film productions and provide them with the opportunity to promote them at an international film forum.
MID holds closed screenings of 20 minutes excerpts from feature films in the final stages of the editing process or available for distribution. A jury provides immediate individual feedback.
Finally, 7 film projects were invited to pitch their projects to a jury in MID.
