Arab Women Film Days 2026

Founded in 2015 as a modest initiative to mark International Women’s Day, Arab Women Film Days has grown into one of MAFF’s most important annual cultural initiatives. What began as a small celebration of Arab women’s voices in cinema has evolved into a well-established autumn film event with a dedicated audience and a clear mission.

The programme is dedicated to showcasing outstanding films by and about Arab women, celebrating the diversity, creativity, and artistic excellence of Arab female filmmakers. Through carefully curated screenings, the event highlights compelling stories and perspectives while supporting greater visibility and representation for women across all aspects of filmmaking.

Beyond the screenings, Arab Women Film Days creates a platform for dialogue and exchange through filmmaker conversations, audience discussions, and networking opportunities. By bringing together filmmakers, cultural professionals, and audiences, the programme encourages meaningful conversations around cinema, gender, identity, and contemporary Arab societies.

Taking place annually in Malmö and Helsingborg, Arab Women Film Days continues MAFF’s commitment to making Arab cinema accessible throughout the year and strengthening cultural exchange across Skåne.
