Arab Women Film Days 2026

The Arab Women Film Days was founded in 2015 as a modest initiative to mark International Women’s Day. Following its strong impact and enthusiastic reception, the event quickly grew into an independent mini-festival with a clear vision and expanding audience.

Dedicated to amplifying the voices of Arab women in cinema, the festival celebrates the diversity, creativity, and depth of films made by and about Arab women. It seeks to empower female filmmakers and professionals within an industry that remains largely male-dominated, while highlighting projects with meaningful female representation across all stages of filmmaking — from script development to on-screen storytelling.

Beyond film screenings, Arab Women Film Days offers a dynamic programme of panel discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities. These activities are designed to encourage dialogue, exchange experiences, and strengthen collaboration among women working in the film sector, helping to build a supportive and engaged community of filmmakers, industry professionals, and audiences.

Arab Women Film Days takes place annually during the autumn in the cities of Malmö and Helsingborg, creating an important cultural space for reflection, inspiration, and connection through cinema.

The festival is supported by City of Malmö, Helsingborg Municipality, Region Skåne, Film in Skåne, and the Swedish Film Institute.
